Where’d all the money go?

18 July, 2010 (14:53) | ccc | By: admin

When is a safety camera not a safety camera?

When the bloody lot are not turned on!!!

Here’s the PDF, print it out and share it with everyone
                 PDF – precommissioned_cameras_ccc

Straight from the GovInc’s own PR website http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/CCC/ccc/home (catchy name huh? they should have gone for….) we get this speil;

Locations of precommissioned cameras
July 7, 2010
locations+of+precommissioned+cameras

You can now find out the locations of precommissioned fixed digital safety cameras which are awaiting implementation.
While in precommissioned status the cameras are put through stringent testing. These cameras may flash and look as though they are operating, but this is merely part of the testing; they are not recording infringements yet. Visit the Camera Information page for more details about precommissioned cameras, camera testing, and to download the list of locations.

And if we venture there today we get this file Current Precommissioned Camera Locations (Excel, 27KB).
We have saved a copy here – precommissioned_cameras.xls

or http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/d3175c00430c1b9d8f4ddf4f501887b2/precommissioned_cameras_20100714.xls
which ever works,

the full list is after the jump (please read more)

Are you’s a Hoon?

23 June, 2010 (11:52) | ccc | By: admin

Motorcyclist, the worst on the road? Not by a long shot.
Just look at hoons on rant radio or tv (top gear etc).

Today has another dull story about motorbike riders doing this or that.
theage.drive.com.au police-blast-motorcycle-hoons
3aw.com.au time-for-motorbike-crackdown

Time to look in your own backyard Neil

Amazingly this goons video proof is STILL online

Goin’ nowhere, fast.

Well, it seems the testers’ calibrated vehicles are still going even when they aren’t moving.
Here is 2 sets of pix of the ‘independent’ testing vehicle with speed still showing even thou stationary (we have video of the van too).

Comments welcome

All cases before the end of July have been adjourned and something big is brewing

expect the rest of the media to follow up soon

Please leave comments or contact us if you have more info

ed 14/05/10 - seems Rant Radio has stumbled upon this case
unsure if its the exact case but they have mentioned a Traffic cop is contesting their case (Trevor Bergman)

Digging deeper

20 February, 2010 (12:43) | ccc | By: admin

It seems that the DoJ have rejigged their server structure and existing linkys has stopped working
http://www.justice.vic.gov.au//wps/wcm/connect/Road+Safety/resources/file/?C=M;O=D
Then again many parts of the site also dont work at all.

Here is a few bits and pieces of useful stuff

Good for future reference for the ‘dont speed, dont get fined’ brigade

Trapster for the masses.

14 February, 2010 (14:57) | ccc | By: admin

By now many would have heard about Trapster

trapster.com

Simple and accurate,  local infomation giving you Speed /Redlight Cameras , Police on patrol and many other road hazards that you are better to be well informed about rather than covert revenue raising.

Watch this video for CCC cameo -    Ch7 Trapster (6mb)

4 January, 2010 (20:15) | ccc | By: admin

Hot off the internet comes a live twitter feed with locations of Mobile Speed Cameras.

http://www.twitter.com/melbspeeDcams

Until recently the monthly locations were regularly published on the GovInc website.
It seems now they dont want you to know where is (or is not) safe.

Luckily we have them here for you.
MobileLocationsDec2009.pdf

Google still has a Google cache

We will try to keep the monthly list public, just like their Mobile Camera policy

EDIT – They’re back

How fast are you going???

10 December, 2009 (11:00) | ccc | By: admin

Continuing on from previous issues with SGS cars speeding on open roads we now have more video of the SGS test car driving at high speed to complete laps thru the test sites.
Remember these are open roads and a local street limit of 50 or less.

The test cars now turn off their taco when not actually driving thru the test zone, but they seem not to slow down (or care for the limits).

Exclusive – Vicroads backflip on GPS use

17 October, 2009 (21:16) | ccc | By: admin

***UPDATE 191009 2pm***

Seems like its a win for common sense
http://www.roadrules.vicroads.vic.gov.au/14_rule_using_mobile_phones_and_visual_display_units.html

  • Changes to the new mobile phone rules
The new mobile phone rules have been revised. The change now allows both the navigational (GPS) and audio/music functions of a mobile phone to be used, provided the mobile phone is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle.

More after the jump
——————————————————————–

Just like most roads ministers, it’s amazing that they all talk large with little vocal opposition, but when they need to do a backflip they run a mile from being public.

Today we have discovered that the 10years revision on the Vic Road Rules (already 12months out of date) have had some significant changes slipped in.
Changes have been made to the wording and direction concerning the use of GPS on a mobile/smart phone.

Mobile phones
Using a mobile phone while driving to make or receive a phone call or listen to audio/music is prohibited except if the phone:
is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle,
or
can be operated by the driver without touching any part of the phone.
Using a mobile phone as a GPS while driving is prohibited except if it is secured in a commercially designed holder fixed to the vehicle.

All other functions (including video calls, texting and emailing) are prohibited.

Exclusive – Redlight camera faulty

16 October, 2009 (00:01) | ccc | By: admin

Here we go again.
Another faulty camera happily snapping away at fresh air.

Thanks to contributor Bobman we have this video proving that these cameras can and do get it wrong

Finally an update, next week

2 October, 2009 (15:04) | ccc | By: admin

After many months of people complaining about the Eastlink cameras and incorrect fines there seems to be a revival of the topic on Melbourne’s Rant Radio – 3YawN next week (Monday apparently)

Here’s some of what’s been going on recently.

Eastlink Site Certificates have recently been updated on the DoJ website
Sadly there is no new information in the pdfs. Why bother to re-upload the files (with new creation dates) if the certificates are the same?

Direct links (as of 13.09.09)

Eastlink-Rowville-Northbound-WellingtonRoadBridge.pdf

Eastlink-Keysborough-Northbound-DandenongBypassBridge.pdf

Remember these sites were last ‘tested’ on August 11 2009
http://www.camerascutcrashes.com.au/?p=269
Why cant the information be renewed  little quicker?
Many drivers are relying on this paperwork and delays do nothing to resolve their case.

Information contained is stale
Pdfs were refreshed on the Doj site – 13.09.09
Pdfs modified – 19.08.09

Test dates also vary, note the serials are also changing.
